THE 4 BIBLICAL PATTERNS TO THE DOUBLE PORTION OF THE ANOINTING – 3

Step 2: TO BETHEL

2 Kings 2:2Then Elijah said to Elisha, “Stay here, please, for the LORD has sent me on to Bethel.” But Elisha said, “As the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you!” So they went down to Bethel.
2 Kings 2:3Now the sons of the prophets who were at Bethel came out to Elisha and said to him, “Do you know that the LORD will take away your master from over you today?” And he said, “Yes, I know; keep silent!” [NKJV]

Bethel is the place of meeting with God.

If you pay close attention to the scripture, you’ll notice that in verse 1 they went from—which implies being loosed or released from something—while in verse 2 they went down to—which suggests a breaking down or humbling of oneself.

The word Bethel means “House of God” or “Place of worship.” The purpose of a place of worship is to meet with God.
Going to church does not automatically mean you will meet with God. It is the person who is broken before Him—through true praise, worship, and thanksgiving—who truly encounters God.

Psalm 100:2–3 (NKJV)
Serve the LORD with gladness; come before His presence with singing.
Know that the LORD, He is God; it is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people and the sheep of His pasture.

It takes a person who serves the Lord with gladness—one who gives their whole heart—to receive something of great importance from Him.
It is in that place of surrender where you silence all other voices and focus on hearing God.
The more you yearn to meet with Him, the closer you draw to Him—and the closer you draw to Him, the more anointed you become.

Prayer:
Wonderful Heavenly Father, I thank You for this truth. I set myself apart for You that I might see You clearly. Nothing will hold me back, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
