Matt.7.7 – “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
Matt.7.8 – For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. [ NKJV ]
When Christ died on the cross and was raised from the dead, He made a way for everyone who receives and believes in Him—not by the will of the flesh or blood, but by the Spirit—to become His sons and daughters.
This means that as we stand before God, He does not see us as we are, for we do not deserve to stand before Him. Rather, He sees Christ standing before Him—the One to whom He has declared throughout all history, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him.” And so, He does hear Him.
The action of “ask, seek, and knock” refers to asking, seeking, and knocking respectively.
It wasn’t an error or coincidence for this scripture to be written in that order—no.
It’s because the actions of these words reveal a divine understanding:
- Ask – as king
- Seek – see king
- Knock – knock king
Each action ends with the king.
What does this mean? It means that as a child of God, you must know that you are a king. See yourself as a king, and after acknowledging it, then ask—you will see it, because it shall be opened to you.
We ask and do not receive because we pray or ask amiss, according to James 4:3. Many of God’s children, instead of asking, are begging—yet everything that pertains to life is already yours through Christ Jesus. Kings don’t beg; they ask with humility, knowing they are to receive.
John 14:13 (NKJV):
“And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.”

Loving Kind Father, I thank You for this truth and understanding of the way to ask. As a king in another king’s kingdom, with all humility do I present myself into your kingdom because am
